MechaCon V: Convention Organizers Interview

This year at MechaCon V, Team Anime Secrets was able to catch up with the masterminds, Jon Russo and Peter Bares, behind Louisiana’s longest-running anime convention for a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on a yearly anime convention and the future plans for the convention’s move to New Orleans from the Hub City. About MechaCon: MechaCon premiered to the world in 2005, in Lafayette, Louisiana but was met with a rough beginning as their weekend event was interrupted by the infamous Hurricane Katrina. However the convention persisted through even hurricanes to survive five years of success and steady growth to the point of surpassing all space available in Lafayette and is currently in the process of moving to New Orleans, Louisiana for its sixth year.
