Being the Ranma ½ fan that I am, I didn’t hesitate to watch these OVAs to see that if they were really as good as I’ve heard. I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed, for the most part.

Let’s get one thing out of the way that Ranma ½ fans will no doubt notice first: the art and animation. Each episode has fantastic along with a new art style. Obviously some serious expense went into these OVAs to make them best looking of the bunch. Coming along with the new and improved animation is the Ranma ½ humor that the fans all know and love. Each episode has some amount of humor in it, from the good old giggles to downright hilarious. This is also the main weakness of these OVAs.

As viewers go through the episodes, it will become apparent that some episodes are much more entertaining than others are. It’s episodes that focus more on Akane and Ranma that are the weaker ones. These episodes are still fun, but because they don’t advance the relationship between the two that much, they aren’t nearly as good as they could have been, and will infuriate any Ranma fan who thinks they’re about to finally witness closure to Ranma ½. Not a chance; read the manga for that.

Humorous filler at best, these OVAs will no doubt give old Ranma fans the laughs they experienced while watching the TV series. Tired of watching episodes of the TV series over and over, or just want moreRanma fun? Then go ahead and watch this. Finally want closure to Ranma ½’s main plot? This isn’t for you.
