“That’s true…” Enoch confirmed, before lapsing back into thought. He had not left Terra’s side nor ignored the conversation growing around him; in fact, he would now and then blurt out additions to what he was subconsciously hearing.

After they had spotted Rainie across the way, his thoughts began to be slowly pulled to the status of his cargo. The sixteen heavy bags that had traveled with him on the gummi ship contained the corpses that served as his thralls—as the products of his art. If there were not found soon, the peace in Traverse Town would deteriorate.

The disappearance of the Heartless had caused a revolution in necromancy. In the past, necromancers restricted themselves to using the bodies of those who had fallen sick, died of natural causes, or been veritably killed by another person. Since most people died by the Heartless, this restriction created a shortage of thralls for the growing population of necromancers in Enoch’s homeland. By the time he had begun his formal training, unfriendly competition was the norm in Morimento.

When the Heartless disappeared, however, so did the aversion to the bodies they had left behind. Enoch became one of the forerunners in the use of unified thralls, or Heatless victims’ bodies.  He hypothesized that these bodies had partially or totally reabsorbed the hearts they had lost upon death, and were now suitable for necromantic use.

Unfortunately, his hypothesis had not been fully tested before he had been put on vacation. Enoch used light spells to place them in stasis before he had left Halloween Town. The spells worked fine on the gummi ride, as far as he could tell. But since he had fallen asleep, it was only a matter of time before they would wear off.

He cast his mind’s eye outward, drawing on the light from the street lamps to help him look. Where are they? He focused intently, drawing upon as much magical power as he could pragmatically expend.

Nothing. Enoch sighed and brought his attention back to the conversation. In the worst case, at least I'll get to see what these people are made of. He bowed to Rainie and Milo and grinned. "Do you two own this place? I'd love to try some of the local cuisine."

Is there a way to flip the thread and the lastest poster so the thread is on top because I keep accidentally keep ending up clicking the user name instead of the thread?
