Avatar - TV Show Discussion

So tomorrow the Legend of Korra airs on Nickolodeon, and has already had episodes 1 and 2 leak to the net.

Currently I'm watching the original series for the first time, half way through Book 3: Fire, and plan to finish before the Legend of Korra airs tomorrow.

So how about you guys?

Alright! Just finished the Original Avatar show, and dear god that four part finale....most amazing thing ever. Puts a lot of the anime I've seen in the past few years to utter shame.

Rounded off the night with Legend of Korra. I'm pretty stoked so far, but I'm not sure if it can top the amazingness in the first series.

So what's everyone else think of Legend of Korra, or Avatar in general?

For the record, immediately after friends and I finished the leaked Korra episodes, they sparked a two-hour shipping discussion. I think that's a good sign.

I saw it once or twice on Nickelodeon but the English Dub put me off on the show... I should watch the Japanese subbed episodes but I just haven't mustered the energy to do so.

also the dub isn't that bad at all.

Shows how much I know lol. But the voices just grated on me for some reason.

Eh the only voice I wasn't too find of was Zuko's in the original. But that was more because of the rigidity in his voice around season two til the end. He was fine when he is angry but not calm, which is just weird lol.

I've watched Avatar, I don't think I've watched the entirety of the series but I've watched the majority of it including most of book 3 and the aforementioned ending. To be totally honest the series isn't half bad, the biggest issue I have with it is no fault of it own, which is it is often mistaken for an anime. . .

I'm not sure when the sequel will be aired down here nor do I think i'll personally be watching when it does, but i'll eventually end up watching some/most of it when Nickelodeon runs the damn series into the ground with never ending marathons of it that i'll eventually be bored enough to watch. . .

whats the bet when the show is about to debut, Nickelodeon down here will decide to marathon the entire original series yet again so people can get up to speed.

Its actually already begun airing as of last Saturday.

The Legend of Korra is actually pretty good so far, a lot has changed in the 70 years since the end of the first series, and the technology has changed more then I expected. Its like 1920's America in their world now. Though overall its a good start, I just don't see the plot conflict just yet. Hopefully soon.

yeah but you have to remember I live of the opposite side of the planet to you, and because of such all the things that air over there tend to take half a year to air down here. . .
