The Steel Ball Run has officially begun! Anime Declassified returns to review Episode 1 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, the long-awaited anime adaptation of Hirohiko Araki’s legendary Part 7.

In this episode, we discuss Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli, Diego Brando, Sandman, Poco Loco, the mysterious Spin, callbacks to previous JoJo parts, and how David Production handled the transition from manga to anime. We also break down the animation, soundtrack, voice acting, changes made from the manga, and that incredible finish to the first stage of the Steel Ball Run.

For a nearly 50-minute premiere, Episode 1 flew by and left us extremely impressed with this new era of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Is Steel Ball Run already living up to years of hype—and could this be one of the best JoJo premieres yet?
