BIO:
Mag was three when Utopia was decimated by the Apocalypse of 1989 and most of society fell into ruin. Out of the destruction arose the new government, First Order, which lorded over the walled-off city that was christened New Utopia and into which only select citizens were allowed. All other citizens, Mag’s family included, made do with the ruins around them, and Mag grew up among the rusty skeletons of Old New York, Old California, and Old Ohio (although the locals of the latter insisted that there wasn’t much difference between “Old” Ohio and its current condition; corn was still the major crop, and the weather was certifiably schizophrenic). They scrounged for supplies and grew food in shallow dirt gardens, and guarded their territory from gangs passing through.
Because life was more often a nightmare than not, Mag escaped from it into the worlds of books, books that she found in abandoned homes, schools, and libraries. Through this reading, she gained great knowledge of the English language, and something of an inability to not finish school-assigned books a week in advance. Passing up socializing in favor of reading, Mag’s penchant for spelling, grammar, and the proper use of commas came easily, while navigating social situations was about as simple and unstressful as talking a family of tigers into not eating her.
In her teenage years, a friend introduced her to “anime”, and Mag soon learned that by hitting her TV hard enough and sticking enough old antennas into it, she could pirate airwave cable from New Utopia and watch all the anime she wanted on something called “Adult Swim”. Her first loves were Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho, and the anime DBZ made her wonder if Saiyans hadn’t been the cause of the Apocalypse, after all.
Soon, however, First Order caught onto Mag’s cable-pirating ways, and sent in agents to break up her illegal operation and take her to headquarters for questioning and, if need be, brainwashing. Mag was without hope, until she discovered that a friend of hers happened to be posing as an agent of First Order, while really working for an organization known as Anime Secrets. He invited her to join the noble cause of Anime Secrets, and after they had taken the time to blow up First Order’s brainwashing machine, Mag accepted and joined Anime Secrets as an agent to fight for the forces of truth, justice, and the proper use of possessives and contractions.
