Progress – Episode 4
Zettai Boei Leviatan is, in a nutshell, incredibly boring. Going on episode five, the story has yet to develop… there are random, awkward scenarios thrown at the characters with arbitrary obstacles and nonsensical, easy-out solutions that do nothing to foster a sense of fear or tension. I have to keep myself from pausing it or falling asleep. It’s a magical girl show with scales substituting for underwear and bras, a big poorly animated dragon with a crush on Leviatan and randomly occurring insectoid enemies.
I have yet to see a plot or any true challenge for the characters and the promised invasion has not once been mentioned since. This show lacks substance – in fact the only interesting parts are the background information drops at the beginning of the episodes, and the rest of the episode can easily by skipped. Character development is non-existent, story exists in shallow and uninteresting single episode arcs, and there’s nothing left at the end to keep viewers coming back. The only thing going for this show is the decent animation and the tidiness granted by single-episode stories.
