The second act of Captain Earth has finally arrived. Although the major plot points are finally coming into focus in these latest episodes (i.e. lines between heroes and villains clearly drawn, backstories and explanations wrapped up, relationships established, etc.), it may be too little too late for the casual viewers who most likely lost interest already.

I found episode five to be primarily dull. The story line was simply mundane. However, I found episode six to be the more interesting episode thus far, primarily because I really like Aoyama….

As KamiAso progresses, we get to see a little more about each of the gods – we started this with Hades in Episode 04, and continue with Susano-o, Tsukuyomi, and Baldr in episodes 5, 6, and 7 respectively. Unfortunately, while KamiAso still keeps straddling the line between taking itself seriously with its ridiculous concept and making fun of itself, it’s starting to lose some of its charm.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the unthinkable has occurred! Things are actually happening in The Irregular at Magic High School, and I actually was genuinely interested in what was going on. I expected this to happen eventually, but I was not prepared for it to kick off in episode 5.

Haikyuu!! is starting to fall into more of a rhythm now as the volleyball season starts in earnest. Karasuno has their first real match (even if it is just a practice match) against Aobajousai, a high school in their area with a highly-ranked team.

When there is an attempt on Nike’s life, the truth is revealed, and they change traditions. With the nation accepting of Princess Nike, Livius’ affections for Nike also grow.

As I mentioned in my last review, the ensemble competition begins with episode five, so a big highlight of the series takes place rather early on. The preceding exposition was very effective, though, so the series is not too rushed. Rather, it is moving at an extremely interest-maintaining pace.

I have to say, I think Brynhildr in the Darkness is smoothing out the hiccups I encountered previously this season. The characters have established themselves, and the plot is finally rolling.

Eiichiro’s first tournament is here, and he’s matched against the fifth seed! He may not realistically stand a chance, but he’s not going to go down without a fight, or without gleaning copious amounts of new information. After the tournament is over, he must determine what to do with what he has learned, both in competition and in practice.
