Aural Vampire Interview @ Anime Matsuri 2008

During Anime Matsuri, I was able to attend a Q&A session with Aural Vampire. Due to problems with our recording equipment, I was unable to record the session. However, through the graciousness of another press team covering the event, NewsWireHouston, an Associated Press outlet, we were allowed to publish the transcripts of the Q&A here. Aural Vampire

Aural Vampire is a primary Electropop/Darkwave/Synthpop band formed in 2004 by vocalist/songwriter Exo-Chika and musician Raveman. The duo is from Tokyo, Japan, and has toured Europe multiple times since conception, as well as performed at Anime Matsuri in 2008. Thus far the band has released one album entitled Vampire Ecstasy (2004) and one single (accessible to download on their website), with plans to release another album later this year.

Dragon Half by Phate

Mink seems to be your average, everyday teenager. Upon closer inspection, though, you become aware that she is in fact the “dragon half” (half human, half dragon) daughter of a powerful knight and the deadly red dragon he was supposed to slay, but instead fell in love with. To add to this, she also has a crush on a famous dragonslayer named Dick Saucer, and plans to go to any lengths possible to get her hands on tickets to his next big concert…

Azumanga Daioh by Kuzu Ryu Sen

At first glance, one would expect a day with Class 1-3 to be as normal as with any other class. As one walks in the door, there’s the 10 year old genius girl with the pigtails reading. When the bell rings, there’s the screeching of the teacher struggling to make it on time. During class, there’s the tall quiet girl looking out the window at what appears to be a very cute cat-shaped cloud, with another girl staring at her with a red face… Directly in front, there’s the girl from Kansai staring blankly into air. Behind, the two childhood friends are arguing loudly again and whacking each other with their textbooks, but it’s fine because the teacher is too distracted by what’s happening in the class next door. Ah, just another day in the world of Azumanga Daioh.

Gunslinger Girl by Niner

A non-profit welfare organization in Italy has picked up five very special young girls. What these girls have in common is they have all experienced a life-changing event before being taken to the organization. Brainwashed and given a mechanical body, Henrietta, Rico, Triela, Claes, and Angelica work for the organization as scientific experiments and assassins for the government with no mercy behind the seemingly cute and innocent disguise. These girls are so tuned, they won’t hesitate to kill an innocent face and not think of it again. However, this brainwashing is slowly destroying them on the inside and and not allowing them to grow.
