Because You Smile When I Sing

Because You Smile When I Sing is a collection of five short stories by Natsuki Takaya, the creator of Fruits Basket. More specifically, the collection contains four dramas-Because You Smile When I Sing (a light love story about two teenagers who are picked on for how they look), Ding Dong (about how a girl adjusts to living with her stepmother and her father’s death), Voice of Mine (about how two talented violinists overcome their classmates’ jealousy and their own lack of confidence in themselves), Double Flower (a tale of how a strange male seamstress finds love; it has a fair share of comedy too)- and one comedy-Dark Princess (a light-hearted parody of Snow White).

Codename: Sailor V

Codename: Sailor V is the prequel to the mega-hit series Sailor Moon, which is credited with redefining the magical girl genre into what it is today. Since many elements of Codename: Sailor V are used again in Sailor Moon, it’s safe to say that Codename: Sailor V is a breakthrough manga in itself.

Aiura: Episode 10 Review

The characters have all been pretty well-established at this point, and the majority are at least somewhat memorable. Since that’s been accomplished, watching “Aiura” has kind of been like visiting a familiar friend.

Aiura: Episode 07 Review

The series is starting to grow on me. It has an extremely loose storyline – just the main characters’ daily lives – but it’s starting to pick up as the characters begin to develop.

Aiura: Episode 04 Review

I’m three more episodes (so like 12 more minutes) into the series now, and nothing very memorable has happened. The main character’s name is Ayuko, and she is basically devoid of personality, merely serving as the voice of reason for her two friends, Kanaka and Saki (who really aren’t even that frivolous…just somewhat annoying).

Aiura – First Impressions

I will say that the artwork is very beautiful, however – it’s shaded more than a typical anime and looks a lot like watercolor. It has a very illustrative feel, which makes me hope that the story itselfwill be very smooth, atmospheric, and interesting.

The Wonderland she lands in is indeed filled with other gorgeous men, but it’s not the paradise that one might expect; it’s the playing ground of a mysterious philosophical game that Alice is soon forced into. The country is also in the middle of a civil war and none of the natives can be trusted, for many seem to harness secret motives involving Alice. She is warned that the best thing for her to do is stay away from them, but if she wants to win the game and go home, she has to interact with the eccentric locals!

There once lived a young princess in feudal Japan who possessed the power of the Koihime beam. With it, she could make anyone fall in love with her for a short period of time.
