One Week Friends: Episode 02-04 Review

One Week Friends started out with an interesting premise of friendship transcending short term memory loss problems, but as of episode 4, it’s beginning to feel more like a gimmick and less like an actual obstacle. It’s unfortunate because the first episode set something great up, but the subsequent episodes are building on that initial framework while at the same time turning Fujimiya’s disability into a conditional nuisance and convenient story telling device.

Sakura-Con 2014

Sakura-Con is a three day convention held in Seattle, Washington on April 18th to the 20th at the Washington State Convention Center.

South Texas Comic Con 2014

This was the first year for The South Texas Comic Con, a two day convention located in McAllen, Texas at the McAllen Convention Center, on April 26th -27th, 2014. This convention went above and beyond my expectations for a convention’s first year.

Cosplayer Spotlight #23: Cute Classy Cosplay

Cute Cosplay Cosplay is comprised of two Louisiana Cosplayers SanctuaryMemories and Oolala Cosplay, selected to compete in the 2014 World Cosplay Summits – USA Finals. The winner of this competition will travel to Japan for the International World Cosplay Summit and compete for America against representatives of the other countries involved in the WCS.

Cosplayer Spotlight #22: Kirayume

A shared burning passion for costuming, performing, and all things magical are just a few reasons why the cosplay duo Kirayume was formed. Daydreamer Nessa (Nessa) and Sparkle Pipsi (Suzanne) have been avid fans of Japanese animation and video games since childhood, and both ladies became seamstresses to express that love through costume-making.

Mushi-shi Season 2: Episode 02-04 Review

With the release of episode four, Mushi-shi is now a quarter of the way through its second season and while the tone of the stories has changed, the method and pacing remains the same as the first season. The first four episodes cover darker stories, all relating to the death of a person close to the featured characters.

Otakon Vegas 2014

Otakon Vegas was an interesting beast of a con: a small, intimate convention focused mainly on fan-run events, run by the same corporation as one of the largest anime conventions in America. I was fortunate enough to have an excuse to be in Las Vegas around New Year’s, allowing me to attend the nascent convention.
