Miki, the secretary of the Student Council, is in seventh grade and the youngest member by far. He is also the most “normal” (as far as that goes in this series) and likable of the student council, and throughout the show usually treats Utena and Anthy with dignity and respect. He is highly intelligent and sometimes serves as the innocent, virginal foil to his compatriots. But innocence can lead to black and white thinking and one being easily manipulated, as is the case with Miki and his virgin/whore complex.

The Four Horsemen of the Patriarchy: Part 2 Saionji

We first see Saionji through Utena’s eyes. Unnoticed, she watches as Saionji and Anthy quarrel outside of Anthy’s rose garden, until Saionji slaps her across the face. Utena is horrified as Saionji prepares to strike her again, but Touga catches his hand before he can, ending the confrontation.

Digimon Tamers

Takato Matsuda is just another avid fan of the Digimon card game and television series. One day while playing the card game with his friends, he discovers the blue card. Upon swiping the card, his card reader is transformed into a D-Arc, and his fanart drawings of a Digimon named Guilmon are brought to life. Takato is not the only child chosen to be a Digimon Tamer; he is soon joined by Tamers Ruki Matsuno and Jiangliang Lee, and their partners Renamon and Terreirmon. However, trying to conceal the Digimon’s appearances in the real world is only the start of their problems, as other Digimon pass into the real plane from the Digital World. The Tamers now must put aside their differences to fend off the intruders before the enigmatic organization Hypnos and its leader, Yamaki, destroy all the Digimon—including the Tamers’ partners. Can the children bond together in time to prevent the imminent doom?

As a teenager, I fell in love with it for its beauty, its surreal story, and Utena’s incredible strength…I’ve come to realize that Revolutionary Girl Utena is one of the most honest commentaries on gender roles and agency I’ve seen in any medium, from any country.

Kill la Kill – First Impressions

I was drawn into watching Kill la Kill for a few different reasons. First and foremost, the creators of Gurren Lagaan, Director Hiroyuki Imaishi and Writer Kazuki Nakashima are involved. Secondly, it comes from Studio Trigger who recently released an amazing one shot anime, Little Witch Academia.

Sparrow’s Hotel

Sparrow’s Hotel is located in a dangerous part of downtown, where people drink much more then they should and cause fights on a daily basis, which causes a problem for Shiokawa Tamaki. That is until Satou Sayuri shows up for a job interview listing her skills of “large breasts” and “assassination”. Tamaki hires the young lady on a trial basis as a Special Task Force to keep the hotel safe….
